How do I know which distributor is closest to me?

You can find the full list of distributors in the Distribution section.

What should I do if I am interested in your products?

Simply contact us by phone or email, using the contact details on the site.

We will contact you to better understand your needs and whether you represent a company, a wholesaler or a retailer, we will help you directly or have you contacted by the distributor closest to you.

Our company relies on a network of distributors that cover a large part of the national territory. Through them we can reach individual sales outlets, which also can rely on the distributor for urgent or limited quantity deliveries.

We only sell directly to companies and purchasing groups for large-scale retailers.

Can I place food directly on your packaging?

Of course, all our packaging is suitable for direct contact with food.

This means that you can safely rest the food on our packaging or put it inside our wrapping and bags.

Declarations of conformity and technical data sheets for all our products are available on request.

What does Ideabrill® mean? How’s it made?

Ideabrill® literally means “brilliant Idea” because when this product was born, in the Italian market there was no fresh-preserver packaging for deli counter service.

To be honest, at that time the words Fresh and Preserve had never been combined into a single word.

When Giuseppe Ortolani invented Ideabrill®, the wordplay came naturally to us: a new word was created!

Ideabrill® is made of pure kraft pulp coated with a special treated film: this structure creates a barrier against external agents responsible for the early deterioration of the food, and maintains its original sensory qualities for longer.

How do you recycle Ideabrill?

To separate the wrapping, simply make a small tear and then separate the paper and film components. For the bag, first lift the fold on the bottom of the bag and then separate the two components.

Cellulose can be thrown away in the paper waste and the film in plastic or general waste, according to individual council directives.

Look inside the folds of our products: you will find all the information you need for responsible and eco-friendly product disposal.

How long can using Ideabrill® extend a food product’s shelf life by?

It depends on the type of food and its original level of freshness.

Ideabrill is a patented packaging that inhibits the action of atmospheric agents responsible for early food deterioration, such as air, light, UV rays, gases, etc.

Studies on a range of foods have shown:

– significant inhibition of growth of biogenic amines in food;

– significant inhibition of production of hexanal marker of lipidic oxidation;

– maintenance of the food’s pH;

– limited production of free fatty acids during lipidic oxidation;

– maintenance of the sensory qualities of food over time.

However, the impact of these benefits on the individual food item depends very much on its composition.

One of our clients, a ham producer, reports that their prosciutto, cured for 36 months, can be stored for up to 8 days with Ideabrill®.

Our advice is always to test Ideabrill® with your product and check, (or better, taste) the difference compared to a traditional packaging.

Can Ideabrill®’s aluminium component stick to food?

No, because the minute percentage of aluminium powder is sandwiched between the paper and the film, meaning it never comes into direct contact with the food.

Ideabrill®’s silver side is a plastic film containing a minimal amount of “pulverised” aluminium, in order to create a light barrier effect.

This amount is so low that legally we don’t even have to indicate its presence, but we disclose it in the spirit of the transparency that has always distinguished us.

Keep in mind that Ideabrill® is suitable for direct contact with all types of food.

Can Ideabrill® also be used to freeze food?

Certainly – especially since Ideabrill®, unlike traditional packaging, doesn’t stick to the food, meaning the bag’s contents can be removed effortlessly when the time comes to defrost them.

Ideabrill®’s advantage is that it is suitable for direct contact with all fresh foods, so you can use it as you wish and without any concerns.

How is a bag heat sealed?

By using the relevant heat sealer, an extremely easy-to-use device that takes up very little space.

Simply lower the sealing bar and hold it down until the red light goes off and you’ll have a perfectly heat-sealed bag in less than a second.

For classic Freshpreserver Bags, the heat sealing time is 0.75 seconds, while for the Freshpreserver Bag Plus you only need 1.16 seconds.

This allows to preserve food hygienically and safely. Here is why heat sealing is so important for different types of food and packaging:

– FRESHPRESERVER BAG FOR COLD CUTS: heat sealing is indispensable to keep cold cuts fresh for 3-4 days.

– FRESHPRESERVER BAG FOR CHEESE: heat sealing is recommended to trap cheese smell inside the packaging, guaranteeing maximum hygiene.

– FRESHPRESERVER BAG PLUS FOR MEAT: heat sealing is recommended to trap blood and liquids inside the bag.

– FRESHPRESERVER BAG PLUS FOR FISH: heat sealing is essential to trap liquids and odours inside the bag.

– FRESHPRESERVER BAG WITH WINDOW FOR CHEESE: heat sealing is recommended, so the customer can place the package in their bag with maximum hygiene. At home, once the top has been cut off, the bag can still be reused, sealing it closed with a kitchen clip.

– FRESHPRESERVER BAG WITH WINDOW FOR MEAT: heat sealing is recommended to guarantee maximum hygiene.

What does Esseoquattro mean?

Esseoquattro (SO4) stands for “Sorelle Ortolani 4”, the 4 Ortolani sisters.

This name represents the family roots of the company, which was created and managed by the Ortolani family.

The four sisters, Silvia, Roberta, Mara and Valeria, today make up the company’s management team, with each at the head of a specific department.

This all-female enterprise, which in itself is an exception in the Italian industrial landscape, can count on the support and on the experience of a fifth woman: their mother Renata, who founded the company alongside her husband, Giuseppe Ortolani.

Can you also make placemats?

Of course, we can make placemats in various sizes and materials.

Our suggestion is to use Olà greaseproof paper gr. 70, so as to have a durable placemat with excellent resistance to oil, sauces and grease.

Each placemat can be customized with your logo, menu, list of your specialties or whatever your heart desires.

In addition to traditional printing, a custom QR code can also be added, which allows you to communicate quickly and effectively with your customers.

Does your company sell directly to stores?

In Italy, our company relies on a network of distributors; we serve large-scale retailers directly if deliveries are centralised, and through distributors if orders are delivered to each sales outlet.
Abroad, we turn to purchasing groups and/or rely on local distributors that specialise in packaging.

Do your products include coordinated packaging lines?

To assist our customers, we have created coordinated lines so that each sales outlet can project a consistent, stylish image.

Our customers can choose between the Red Rose, which is available both for Ideabrill products and for wrappings and bags in the “Packed with Passion” line; the stylish “High Fashion” print, available both for Ideabrill and Olà; and the “Contains with Style” print, available for generic Ideabrill products.

There is also a wide range of sector-specific prints, dedicated to the various fresh food industry sectors: delicatessen, butchery, bakery, etc.

What’s the difference between greaseproof paper and “normal” paper?

As the name suggests, greaseproof paper and bags undergo a special treatment that makes them resistant to oil and grease and hence perfect for packaging all kinds of oily food.

They are available in two versions: Glisser (white) and Olà (kraft brown). In addition to not letting oil seep through, Olà avoids the formation of unpleasant stains.

Are your items sold by number or weight?

Our items are sold both by number and by weight.

We sell traditional products (i.e. medium/heavy weight paper wrapping and bags) by weight, in boxes that do not exceed 10 kg.

Special products are sold by number, including the whole Ideabrill range and lighter paper wrapping and bags.

What does “FSCⓇ certificate” mean?

FSCⓇ (Forest Stewardship Council®) is an international non-profit organisation that includes among its members NGOs and environmental groups (WWF, Greenpeace), social groups (National Aboriginal Forestry Association of Canada), forest owners, paper processing companies such as Esseoquattro, retailers, researchers and technicians.

In total there are almost 900 members, united by a single eco-sustainability vision.

The FSCⓇ Chain of Custody certification attests that products containing wood or its derivatives, such as cellulose, come solely from forests managed in a correct and responsible way according to strict environmental, social and economic standards, and ensures total traceability.

FSCⓇ has defined these standards with ten FSCⓇ Principles and Criteria of Good Forest Management. They were published for the first time in 1994 and their 5th edition, published in 2012, is currently in force throughout the world.

On the basis of these principles, the Organisation requires forest owners to comply with all applicable laws, regulations, treaties, conventions and international agreements ratified at the national level.

From an environmental point of view, every FSCⓇ forest management organisation is required to avoid, remedy or mitigate negative impacts on the ecosystem.

Finally, from a socio-economic point of view, each organisation is required to protect the welfare of their workers, but also to recognize and protect the rights of Indigenous populations, and must contribute to the maintenance or improvement of their well-being.

What does “PEFC certificate” mean?

The PEFC Chain of Custody certification ensures that the suppliers we have chosen to work with ensure the total traceability of each batch of paper, and that it comes from forests managed according to specific environmental and social sustainability requirements.

PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) represents a real guarantee for the well-being of the environmental heritage of the planet because it requires the highest sustainable forest management standards, without exception.

This means that forests must be managed with the aim of maintaining or improving biodiversity and supporting the needs of ecosystems.

PEFC also requires that logging is done in compliance with laws, but also the trees’ natural growth rate, and requires that the areas subject to cutting are to be reforested, or, preferably, regenerated and renewed naturally.

PEFC forest owners also need to replace chemicals with natural alternatives, or at least minimise their use.

From a social point of view, PEFC requires that forest management is carried out with full protection of the rights and health of workers as well as those of Indigenous peoples, and aims to increase local employment.

Finally, in order to ensure maximum transparency and reliability, compliance checks on companies based on the standards created by PEFC are carried out by an independent certification body.
